My father, Oscar Holder, was a Foreign Service Officer who died in the
line of duty in 1962. In early May 2003 his name was added to a plaque
in the lobby of the State Department in Washington. This video shows
the plaque unveiling ceremony.
My mother, who had been ill for a long time, worked hard to have my father's
name included and to have his sacrifice honored. She attended the ceremony
in a wheelchair and died a month loter.
