I planted these poppies by seed in the fall of 2003. I had prolific blooms in the spring and iinto the summer of 2004. Then the stems of the poppies became rather rope-like with long seed pods at the ends. After taking this photo of the plant after its first bloom, I removed the long dry stems and gave the new growth, shown in the picture, a chance to take hold. This gave me new blooms which were smaller than the initial blooms.
